The adequate distribution of forces applied on a osseointegrated implant is one of the most important prerequisites for estimating the long term prognosis of successful osseointegration. These forces should be directed towards the longitudinal axis of the implant or implants. In those cases where more than one implant is utilized, these should be aligned as parallel to each other as possible.
Why is parallelism so important?

1.- Occlusal forces will be better distributed. These forces will be directed towards the longitudinal axis of the implant, therefore, reducing the possibility of axially directed forces that magnify the load, change the point of application and reduce the osseous resistance. |

2.- The insertion of the fixed cemented prosthetic framework will be passive. |

3.- In fixed screwed prostheses the emergence of fixation screws can be readily predicted. |

|
4.- The use of angulated abutments is reduced significantly specially in those cases where they are not needed. |

|
|
5.- Over dentures can be inserted in a predictable manner. |
 |
|
|
6.- Dental technicians and restorative dentists can save time and effort. |
